Water...The Way It Was Meant To Be?

 Examining The Alternatives

Carafe
Pour-Through Filters

  • Limited in its ability to remove contaminants of health concern.
  • Limited in its ability to microstrain the water. Does not reduce microscopic cysts-Giardia Lamblia and Cryptosporidium or Asbestos, THMs, VOCs, etc.
  • Must replace filters about every 35 gallons.
  • Although initial cost is low, the ongoing cost of filters is quite expensive ($7.00 - $10.00 each or between $100.00 to $140.00 for 500 gallons) compared to our 750 gallon filter for only $49.95.
  • Inconvenient to use...first you draw the water from the tap, then pour the water through the filter, refrigerate, and wait.

Charcoal Filters

  • These come in powdered or granulated form which allows water to flow around rather than through the carbon.
  • Referred to as taste and odor filters because of the limited contact time the water has with the carbon.
  • Can promote the growth of bacteria.

Silver-Charcoal Filters* (Bacteriostatic)

  • Same as charcoal filters above; however, uses silver to inhibit the growth of bacteria while water sits in filter.
  • Silver ingested in certain doses can be poisonous to the human body; therefore, it must be registered with the EPA as containing a poisonous substance.

Distillation

  • No independent ability to remove all chemicals - the chemicals can vaporize and re-condense into the distilled water.
  • Daily chore to provide enough water for the entire family.
  • Requires electricity at a cost of about $240.00 per year.
  • Removes dissolved minerals and trace elements essential to good health.

Reverse Osmosis

  • No independent ability to reduce most Volatile Organic Chemicals.
  • Very low output - takes up to 24 hours to process 5 gallons of water.
  • Must have holding tank to store the processed water.
  • Wastes water - for every gallon processed - 3 to 9 gallons are wasted.
  • Removes minerals and trace elements essential to good health.
Limited Media
Filters
As the demand for quality drinking water continues to grow, new types of media will be test marketed, from metal shavings to coconut shells. Some materials can be quite "exceptional" in reducing a particular contaminant in the water, but there is a wide range of contaminants that should be addressed -- not just one or two.
Bottled Water
(Home Delivered)
  • 25% of bottled water is reprocessed tap water.
  • Both bottled water and tap water have to meet the same standards
  • Inconvenient-bottles are heavy and must be stored until you are ready to use them.
  • Very expensive-can typically spend $200.00 to $400.00 annually for bottled water.
  • Can become contaminated when stored.
Bottled Water
(Store-Bought)
  • Same as home delivered; however, bottles have to be carried home from the store.
  • Inconvenient and expensive-typically can cost up to $1.00 per gallon.
  • Limited supply

*NOTE: August, 1989 Federal Trade Commission Report states, " Studies on the effectiveness of Bacteriostatic Filters have shown unpromising results in there ability to control bacterial growth."

Comparing The Products To NSF or UL Standards

When selecting a drinking water treatment device, consumers can rely on the standards developed by NSF International and UL (Underwriters Laboratories), independent organizations that develop consensus standards and testing programs for a wide variety of consumer products, including drinking water treatment units. NSF and UL offer objective, third party evaluation of products against NSF/ANSI standards. In addition to helping the consumer compare the contaminant reduction performance of a drinking water system, the NSF and UL standards also provide the basis for comparing the capacity of the unit as well as the flow rate of the device.

Points To Consider:
Has The Unit Been Tested And Certified By NSF International (1) or UL (2)?

Is The Product Listed Under NSF Standard No.53 (Health Effects) Or Under NSF Standard No. 42 (Aesthetic Effects) Or Both?

Multi-Pure solid carbon block filter systems have been tested and listed under NSF Standard No. 42 and NSF Standard No. 53. In addition, the replacement filters for these units, are also listed. They are also tested and certified under UL standards.

(1) NSF International®, The Public Health and Safety Company™, a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization, is the world leader in standards development, product certification, education, and risk-management for public health and safety. For more than 59 years, NSF has been committed to public health, safety, and protection of the environment. While focusing on food, water, indoor air, and the environment, NSF develops national standards, provides learning opportunities through its Center for Public Health Education, and provides third-party conformity assessment services while representing the interests of all stakeholders. The primary stakeholder groups include industry, the regulatory community, and the public at large.

(2) Underwriters Laboratories Inc® (UL) is an independent, not-for-profit organization that has evaluated products, materials, and systems in the interest of public safety for more than 105 years. More than 17 billion UL marks appear on products each year and more than 18,000 types of products are tested at UL's five U.S laboratories. The UL family of companies includes more than 190 inspection centers in 72 countries worldwide. UL's Environmental and Public Health Mark is widely recognized and accepted by consumers, governmental agencies, and environmental and public health professionals throughout the world.

Ask For The Product Performance Data Sheet

Many states require that Performance Data Sheets be provided to all prospective customers of drinking water treatment devices. Contact Us For a Copy of The Performance Data Sheet or

How Often Will You Need To Change The Filter And How Much Will It Cost?

The units we sell have been rated from 400 to 1200 gallons, depending on the model purchased, which is about a one year supply of drinking water for a family of four.

Does The Water Treatment Device You Are Considering Remove The Contaminants You Are Concerned About?

Refer to the Performance Data Sheet. NSF or UL
Note: 99% is the maximum rate of reduction certified by NSF.

What Is The Products Flow Rate?

Our drinking water systems produce a plentiful flow rate of .75 gallon per minute.

Does The Manufacturer Or Distributor Provide A Customer Satisfaction Guarantee Or Warranty?

Multi-Pure® demonstrates confidence in its drinking water systems by providing a 30 day money-back guarantee. In addition the drinking water system housings are warranteed for 25 years!

The list of contaminants that Multi-Pure reduces does not mean that these substances are present in your tap water. Copy of UL® listings available upon request. Be sure to check for compliance with state and local laws and regulations. Claims of capacity are not applicable to contaminants reduced by mechanical filtration because of broad variations in the quality and quantity of physical matter in your drinking water.
